Our Suggestions by Ca'Sita B&B casa particular

Havana offers an abundance of interesting sights, all deserving your attention. Museums, churches, monuments and more, like many other world capitals. But there are also some unique, only found in Havana, not to be missed places:

Callejon de Hamel - A few steps away from Ca’Sita B&B, in the popular Cayo Hueso district (Centro Havana), it is one of the centers of the Afro-cuban culture. The alley, a sort of open air art gallery, was created by Salvador Gonzales in 1990 and it is dedicated to Fernando Hamel, legendary arms dealer, protector of the neighborhood. Murals and sculptures made with recycled material make the background to the music resounding in the alley at any time, especially on Sunday when followers of the Santeria dance at the rhythm of Rumba. - http://www.lahabana.com/guide/callejon-de-hamel/

Callejon de los Peluqueros - In Habana Vieja, an alley dedicated to barbers, hairdressers and artists. A bounty of galleries and restaurants.

The Malecòn - Cuba’s most famous sea-side avenue was built at the beginning of the 1900. It is Havana’s unique outdoor’s lounge to be enjoyed at any hour of day or night, but we prefer it at sunset.

F.A.C. - Fabrica de Arte Cubano - An old oil factory converted in a thriving contemporary cultural center with unique offerings, such as films, concerts & art exhibitions. - http://www.fac.cu

Finca Vijia - The place Ernest Hemingway called home in Cuba, located in San Francisco de Paula, just outside Havana - http://fincafoundation.org/overview.html

Fusterlandia - The product of artist Josè Fuster. In Jaimanitas, a seaside town just west of Havana, Fuster has built a creative enclave called Casa de Fuster. It started with a mosaic decoration of his house/studio and slowly spilled out into the surrounding neighborhood.

Gran Teatro de La Habana - The oldest working theater in the western hemisphere. Home of the Cuba National Ballet and Opera. Dedicated to Alicia Alonso, historical ballerina of Cuba.

Muraleando Project - A community development project created by Manuel Diaz Baldrich, a local artist who in lack of space where to teach art, brought his class to the street and started "muraling" - http://www.muraleando.org

Napoleonic Museum - La Dolce Dimora (The Sweet Abode), a Renaissance-style palace built at the end of 1920 as residence of Oreste Ferrara, is now the house of the most important Napoleonic collection of Central America. The collection results from the union of the private collections of Julio Lobo, a sugar tycoon, e Oreste Ferrara, lawyers and politician of the Machado government. - https://www.napoleon.org/en/magazine/places/museo-napoleonico-cuba-2/

Playas del Este - A long beach strip situated 18km east of Havana. The beaches here are sublime, a little unkempt (Cuba-style), with a few tourists and many Habaneros enjoying themselves. A breath of fresh air to sooth the fatigue of discovering bustling Havana.
